Membership Benefits
Seeds=Food
The Coop provides 20 high quality, open pollinated seed packets per year, per membership. This is enough to grow a garden for a family of four (4).
Workshops
The EMSGC tries to hold a meeting every 2-3 months. In general, those meetings include 1-2 workshops that cover a wide variety of topics. Here are some previous topics, as well as some future ideas!
- Seed saving
- Soil preparation
- Planting
- Irrigation and water conservation
- How to control bugs & weeds
- Food preservation and storage (canning, freezing, dehydrating)
- Root cellars
Knowledge and Resources
Advice for garden, livestock and overall homesteading from other area members, as well as tours of farms and gardens in the East Mountains and metro area.
Community
In addition to providing an environment where like minded individuals can come together, we host an end of harvest potluck with trade and barter of food and other items you have grown or made.
Resources
Access to resources on growing and producing food thru workshops, online and site visits.

How does membership work?
Fees
There is a $24 fee for one year of membership. Dues are collected for each year at the beginning of the year. Fee is prorated if you join later in the year.
Giving back to the Coop
Members agree to collect seed from their harvest and return some to the seed bank. Guidance on this process is available.
Conscious seed usage and sharing
We ask that members take all reasonable precautions to not breed or share patented or genetically modified plants and seed varieties with the co-op seed bank. Instead, members focus on heirloom and heritage varieties when possible.
